

2014 – DIAMOND JUBILEE OF COIR BOARD OF INDIA (1953 - 2013 )
COMMEMORATION:
The Coir Board is a statutory body established by the Government of India under the 'Coir
Industry Act 1953 (45 of 1953)' for the promotion and development of the coir(coconut fibre)
industry in India.
It is based in Kochi and Alappuzha. The head office of the Coir Board is in Kochi and the
research and training office is in Kalavoor, Alappuzha. The coir industry is one of the traditional
industries in India that is still at its peak. The board works for the promotion, research, education,
and training of the coir industry. The board functions under the Ministry of Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises.
This 10 rupees commemorative coin was released on 16th April 2014, for circulation. The other
coin issued in the denomination of 60 rupees is only issued for inclusion in proof / UNC sets.
REVERSE:-The reverse face of the coin bears the image of the logo of the COIR BOARD in
the Centre . The year "1953-2013" is inscribed below the image of the Coir Board logo and
“DIAMOND JUBILEE” just above the logo. Legend "Kayar Board ke 60 Varsh" in Devnagri
script is shown on the upper periphery and "60 YEARS OF COIR BOARD" in English on the
lower periphery.
OBSERVE -- The legend "Satyameva Jayate" appears below the Lion capital.
